Taking the next step…

“Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.” ~ Dag Hammerskjold

I’ve been looking down for the a long time. Questioning everything. Picking and pulling myself apart over and over again. Convincing myself that both my dream and I weren’t ready to be put on display to the world because there were still perfecting touches to be applied. At some point, I’m not entirely sure when, this stopped being cautionary inaction and started being self-sabotage at a significantly deep level. By refusing to face the terror of taking the next step, I was stranding myself in a misery of my own making.

After 18 long years, countless drafts and revisions, at least 4 significant mental breakdowns, several more grey hairs than when I started, and a global pandemic, I finally did it. I finally lifted my eyes and took the next step. Today, I submitted my manuscript to my publisher!

Now, for those of you that have been following my journey closely and are dying to get your hands on a copy, it’s not time to get ahead of ourselves just yet. There are still a number of steps in the process that both the publisher and I have to go through before the book makes it to print. Also, as this is my first time publishing, I’m as new to all of this as many of you are and I’m waiting to receive further advice on what the coming weeks and/or months will look like. Even so, submission is an important step in the process that I feel justified in celebrating, mainly because I’ve been putting off for, oh, let’s say 3 months or so now. I know, I know. I’m my own worst enemy.

I hope to be checking in again soon with further updates on the publishing process and how my project is progressing. In the meantime, I’ll be raising a glass of fizz with MB tonight to celebrate being one step closer to finally holding The Origin Saga: The Awakening by L. Margetts-Bullock in my hands. Cheers!

Love & light,

Loz x
